Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to common questions about our senior housing initiative.
What is the Senior Housing Initiative?
The Senior Housing Initiative is a project being explored by Church of the Incarnation United Methodist to create affordable senior housing on a portion of the church property at 330 W. Golf Road while preserving substantial green space and continuing the church’s ministry and community presence.
No. The project remains under review and refinement. The concept presented during the Village’s Early Review process is not a final design, and additional review, feedback, and refinement are ongoing.
The church believes its land can continue serving the broader community while helping address a growing need for affordable housing opportunities for older adults. This initiative is part of the church’s ongoing commitment to serving neighbors and being a good steward of its resources.

The current concept involves a long-term ground lease structure rather than an outright sale of the land.

No. The church’s ministry and presence in Arlington Heights will continue. The project is intended to add to what the church does for the community, not replace it.

What concerns were raised during Early Review?

Several topics received discussion during Early Review, including:

  • Building height
  • Relationship to neighboring homes
  • Buffering and privacy
  • Parking
  • Site access
  • Neighbor outreach

The church has stated that these topics remain important areas of ongoing review and refinement.

Yes. The church has publicly stated that it expects the design to evolve in response to feedback received through the review process.

Protecting the quality of life of neighboring homes has been identified as an important project objective from the beginning, and the church has indicated it is continuing to work with Village staff on these issues.
The church has stated that state law does not allow occupancy to be restricted only to current Arlington Heights residents. Future residents would become members of the broader Arlington Heights community.
Questions may be submitted through the website contact form or by contacting Church of the Incarnation directly. The church has committed to continuing public communication and community engagement as the project moves forward.
